These costs estimates assume a blobgas base fee of 4.2 gwei and 0.0122 gwei additional L2 Base Fee congestion.

Update Log

On March 14th (pi day), gas fees per transaction on the Superchain (i.e. OP Mainnet, Base, Zora, Mode) are anticipated to greatly reduce (Ecotone upgrade proposal).

These savings have historically been difficult to estimate, leading to vague projections such as “10-100x cheaper.” This is because we can’t predict what happens to transaction demand when 1) Fees drop to the lowest they’ve ever been, and 2) We enter a new “blobgas” market, which influences transactions’ gas fees.

Due to reduced fees, we can also expect to see an increase in L2 demand & single-chain congestion (influencing **L2 Base Fees)**. Learn more about the Superchain, and scaling Ethereum with many L2s.

Introducing: The Superchain Savings Estimator

The Superchain Savings Estimator is an attempt to show how much cheaper your transactions can actually expected to become on March 14th, with some ~reasonable assumptions (see below).q

How to Use the Superchain Savings Estimator Frame & Webpage

Sharing On Farcaster: Post a link to welovetheblobs.xyz within your cast to share the frame experience, so others can play with it inside of your cast.

Sharing Outside of Farcaster: Post a link to welovetheblobs.xyz anywhere else (i.e. Twitter, newsletters, governance forums, myspace) to share the web page experience.

The Frame experience takes recent transactions from your Farcaster connected addresses to show the gas fee paid back then, compared against the modeled cost for the exact same transaction after the March 14th Ecotone Superchain Upgrade.
